Cider Monday
Bertie Beetle Chocolates are an iconic treat that you were never able to leave the Show without. The Colonial Brewing Co creates their beautiful cider in Bertie Street Melbourne, in the very same building that the chocolate was created, hence the name Bertie. The cans have a very uplifting design with a beautiful turquoise colour, there is a slight femininity to the cans, which is lovely.
The colour of the cider is a delicate rose gold, which is a beautiful colour to come from a cider. This has a really light and clean apple smell, subtle and not overpowering. Taste wise it has such a crisp and clean flavour it's like biting into a fresh cold apple straight from the fridge. The apples used in creating this cider are eating apples such as Red Galas and Sundowners, which really adds to the feel of biting into an apple when drinking it. If you find some ciders too sweet then this is a great option, there is some natural sweetness coming from the apples but the cider has a very pleasant medium dry finish so you feel refreshed after each sip. This cider is fruit concentrate free so you know that with the cold pressing technique you are getting some of the most pure flavour you can out of the apples. Colonial Brewing Co really know what they are doing when it comes to making a fantastic cider.
