Have a break, have a Kit Kat

Kit Kat just recently came out with three new flavours inspired by their new Chocolatory in Melbourne Central. I was there on opening day and it was an amazing experience. They had limited edition flavours that you wouldn't have been able to find anywhere else, including the opportunity to create your own custom Kit Kat block. If you are looking to create your own custom block then I would make sure you go there as soon as it opens as the process does take quite some time, in fact it took almost 5 hours for mine but they were well worth the wait. For those who aren't in Melbourne or don't feel like a trip into the city there are the three new flavours to try. Caramel burst with sea salt in a milk chocolate block, Espresso biscuit and ganache in a dark chocolate block and the final flavour of Mint cream and cookie smash in dark chocolate. These do run on the more expensive side than a normal Kit Kat block but I picked these up on special for $3 a block.

Caramel Burst with Sea Salt
Milk Chocolate

A nice sweet chocolaty caramel smell hits your nose when you open the packet. This promises a caramel burst but it's so cold at the moment that nothing is bursting, thought that isn't to say there isn't a good gooeyness to the caramel once it warms up and it certainly doesn't become hardened, it just doesn't 'burst'. Sadly there is not much sea salt to be found and I would love to see more of a hit as it would help balance out the sweetness of the milk chocolate and caramel. Regardless of the lack of salt this is still a fantastic flavour combination and i certainly wouldn't say no to buying this again when I'm in the mood for something sweet and delicious.

Espresso Biscuit with Ganache
Dark Chocolate

Dark rich chocolate and slightly bitter coffee swirl around me when I open this packet. The flavour is just as rich and decadent as you would expect with such strong flavour profiles. If you are a lover of dark chocolate and coffee then this is a winner. Whilst not my favourite of the three, I certainly enjoyed trying it. There is an undercurrent of sweetness but not as sugary as the milk block. You only need a small amount to be satisfied as this has a long lasting flavour.

Mint Cream and Cookie Smash

A fresh minty smell bursts forth as soon as you open this with an undertone of dark chocolate, though it gets lost in the minty glory. Out of the two dark chocolate blocks this is the one I prefer, not as bitter and slightly sweeter. If, like me, you aren't a huge dark chocolate fan but would like to try some then I would suggest this one. The mint really adds a zing to the taste. I do feel that the cookie smash part is a tad redundant as you cant really taste it and the wafer provides the crunch you would want when promised cookie. Aside from the lack of cookie smash, this is a great flavour and perfect for an after dinner treat.

In conclusion, Kit Kat have done a great job in bringing new flavours to their range and giving their customers a new experience. They are even cat approved.

Do yourself a flavour and have a break, have a Kit Kat.
