Cider Love

Apple, Pear, Cherry, Strawberry and so many others, the choices are endless when it comes to choosing a cider to drink. I picked out 8 different ciders to try and below you can see what I thought of each one.

 Wicker Man Cider
Pear

This cider has a beautiful, sweet and strong pear scent. Its a great real fruit smell, like someone was holding a ripe pear under my nose. This cider has a good flavour, not as strong as the smell, but delicious and refreshing, with light carbonation. There is a natural sweetness, enough to give you a hint but not overbearing.

Frank's
Cherry and Pear Cider

This Cider has a reddish brown colour with a deep pear smell. The cherry really adds some depth to the nose. It is a different smell to fresh cherries, a matured smell that's almost spiced. The depth carries over into the taste and the cherries add a heaviness that wouldn't be there with just pear. the flavours work well for the winter months and I could imagine drinking this on a cold winters night or at Christmas time, if Christmas was cold in Australia. Not a sweet cider, light subtle carbonation.

Hugo and Hunter
Strawberry Cider

Imagine you are biting into a fresh, juicy, warm strawberry that you have just picked. That is just how this cider tastes, like strawberries kissed by the sun. It smells absolutely divine and has a beautiful pale strawberry colour. The taste is sweet but with a hint of tartness. For those who like a sweeter style I would absolutely recommend this cider. Try it with a slice of lime over ice and you wont be disappointed by the zing it adds!

Sidewood
Basket Pressed Apple Cider

A light, slightly yellowed coloured cider with a very subtle apple smell. This cider has a tart, earthy apple taste. Not what I would call sweet, this cider is fruity and crisp. A good cider to have with food as it wouldn't overpower the other flavours but instead add a nice balance.

The Barossa Cider Co
Squashed Apple Cider

A strong apple smell hits you when you open this, like someone just smashed an apple under my nose. It has a beautiful sweet apple taste and reminds me of apples in the sunshine. Have you ever walked past a tree in the summer and been hit with a slight warm, fruity sweet smell? That's what this cider tastes like.

Joy Son Cider Co
Organic Apple Cider

Pale in colour with a tinge of yellow. There is a subtle apple scent, light and sweet.
The taste is crisp and refreshing, not as sweet as I was expecting when I smelt it. A great clean and pure apple flavour, needs no improvement.

Lobo
Apple Cider

This cider needs a gentle invert to mix the sediment that sits at the bottom as this is a cloudy, unfiltered and untamed cider. You can opt to not mix in the sediment and try it that way, see which you like better. This cider is opaque in colour, so it absolutely lives up to being a cloudy cider. A pure apple smell hits your nose, different to all the other apple ciders before it. There is a tart taste, not unpleasant, but it isn't a sweet cider. It has a different mouth feel, thicker then the filtered ciders. The more you drink the more you fall in love with this style of cider.

Lobo
Apple and Pear Cider

Subtle apple and pear smell from this opaque cider with just a touch of sweetness bought out by the adding of pear. The pear really becomes the shinning star of this cider, bringing a natural sweetness and a fantastic fruit taste. This cider is Preservative and Gluten free
